The cross is a symbol of the sun, monotheism, light, life and truth in Armenian culture. At the origins of the image of the cross are the symbols of stars and suns, which is a reflection of God's manifestation in Genesis. The serpent is perhaps the most common and one of the oldest animal symbols. People believed in the wisdom of the serpent or prophetic grace. At the same time, in Armenian representations it is attributed opposite meanings: vengeful, treacherous, but a giver of good, treasure and protector. In Armenian myths and legends, it is often represented as a monster who lived near water reservoirs, demanding human sacrifices․ It is also a symbol of common sense, eloquence․ Armenians in ancient times, believed that each house had a patron, embodied by some animal-totheme, which most often was a snake.
